Year 3 and Year 4 make trebuchets

Year 3 and year 4 are making trebuchets, as we have been learning about Tudors in our Creative Curriculum topic. We were working in groups of 2-4. We were able to use different types of materials, for example wood, string, and cardboard. We had to design our trebuchets and write down everything that we needed. Year 3 and Year 4 will be having a competition to see who made the best trebuchet. We will let you know who won.

Year 4 poetry competition

Year 4 had a poetry competition yesterday. We went into the hall where there were 3 judges. The judges were Mrs Hemsley, Fraulein Schneider and one of the governors. We all had a chance to stand at one end of the hall and say our poems to the judges. They had to score us in 3 different areas, these were: did we engage with the audience, how clearly and loudly we spoke and if we used expression while we said our poems. Some children read one on their own and some worked in small groups. At the end Mrs Wakeling gave us our scores and there were 8 children who came 1st and 2nd. These children were: Joanna, Tanzina, Natan, Zara, Denisa, Emilia, Mariya and Shakira. They all got to choose a prize, but also the rest of us got a little present as the teachers thought we worked really hard.
