Totem Poles

Year 3 and 4 are learning about totem poles. Totem poles are made of wood. They are very tall and have carvings on, mostly of animals. Year 3 and 4 are making totem poles using papier mache and balloons. You can put lots of different animals on a totem pole like tigers, sharks, lions, wolves and eagles.  To make the papier mache we ripped pieces of paper into small bits and used a mixture of glue and water to stick the paper onto half of the blown up balloon. When it was half covered, we let it dry for 2 days. Then we popped the balloon and painted the creature on it and let it dry again. Finally we put it on the Totem pole.  By Molly and Waliur
